The course is suitable for private students of the Technique who have had at least 30 lessons and would like to explore the practice and theory of the Technique in a small group environment with a variety of teachers. Working with several teachers and other students in a group provides learning opportunities not readily available in individual lessons and is an excellent way to deepen your understanding of the Technique.
Please note that this course is not intended as a replacement for private lessons.
The course will be structured similarly to an Alexander teacher training course. Each student will receive turns from at least two teachers, in standard Alexander work. We will explore ‘games’ directed activities using the Technique to re-think how we use ourselves in activity. Each afternoon will be themed around a different aspect of the Technique (direction, inhibition etc.) and there will be time for discussion and questions around the day’s theme. We will also address anyone’s particular needs, from which everyone can learn.
There is an upper limit of six students each afternoon, and early booking is recommended. Students may attend as many or few afternoons as they wish, but booking is essential and consistency is recommended to receive the maximum benefit
The course will be held on the second Sunday of every month (except August), from 2:00 - 4:30 pm, beginning Sunday14 October. Each afternoon costs £30.
